Crystal Thomas, a 33-year-old woman from New York, United States, was arrested for letting her 10-year-old son get a permanent tattoo of his name in capital letters on his forearm, local police said.
As a result of what happened, the mother was charged and arrested for endangering the health and care of the minor by letting him get “a large permanent ink tattoo on his body.” Likewise, the authorities are in search of the person who tattooed the minor’s body.
For his part, James Janso, Lloyd’s Police Chief, told the local press that the minor recorded himself unsupervised in a motel room where Thomas and his children had stayed for several weeks.
“She was not in the room with him,” Janso said. “It is not a professional job, the tattoo is on the inner part of the child’s forearm and is about 18 centimeters long,” she added.
The police officers were alerted by the fact when the little boy arrived at his school and asked the school nurse to give him Vaseline to put it in the tattoo area.
The local newspaper New York Post specified that in New York it is illegal to tattoo a minor under 18 years of age, even with parental permission, according to state law.
Ultimately, the infant and his brother were taken in by Child Protective Services, and it is not known if Thomas will ever have custody of their children again.
