In recent months, the prices of basic necessities have been increasing. This morning, the INEI in Cusco presented its report regarding the situation in the imperial region.
The price increase climbed 11.27% in the last 12 months, while, from July 2022, prices increased 6.52%, the report details.
According to Henry Chacacanta, regional head of the Institute of Statistics and Informatics in Cusco, the products that increased the most in price are asnapa, a combination of local herbs, by 32.04%, Chinese onion (31.13%), pepper (31 .06%) and Andean corn (19.01%).
Other products that also registered important variations are mango, which increased by 30.21%, papaya (19.53%) and corn (19.01%).

Only last July, in Cusco, of the 411 products that make up the basic family basket, 211 of them increased in price, 70 slightly reduced their cost and another 130 remained unchanged.
Another factor to take into account is the frost season that the imperial region is going through, a season in which some products increase in price, especially herbs, vegetables, and fruits that arrive mainly from the provinces of Paucartambo, Calca, and La Convencion.
Finally, the official recalled that an alternative to counteract the price increase is to consume seasonal products or replace products with cheaper alternatives.
