The number of cases of monkeypox in Mexico rose to 91 from 60, at the cutoff of last July 31, the Federal Health Secretariat reported on Tuesday. “As of July 31, 2022, 91 infections of monkeypox have been confirmed in the country, out of 236 identified that meet the operational definition of a probable case,” Health said in a statement.
The agency added that so far no deaths have been recorded caused by this disease. Mexico City is the entity in the country with the highest number of registered cases with 45 in total. Then Jalisco follows, with 22; Nuevo León, Tabasco and Veracruz, with three cases each; State of Mexico, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo and Yucatán, with two each. The states that only have one registered case are Baja California, Baja California Sur, Colima, Chiapas and Sinaloa.
92% of people affected by monkeypox are male. and the rest female, according to the official report. Regarding the ages, Almost half of the infected people are between 30 and 39 years old.
