Yesterday, during the presentation of the Legends Cup, the marketing director of the Mexican Grand Prix, Rodrigo Sánchez, shared with the media the future that the event would have after this year, since it would be entering the last year of its agreement.
“There is everyone’s interest so that the Grand Prix continues to be in Mexico City, it is something that we bring to the level of conversation with F1, with the authorities. The spirit is that we move forward”, but he emphasized that there is still a need to “fine tune some details”.
Sánchez declared that there is no doubt that “Mexico deserves to have an F1 race beyond five years, especially because of what we are experiencing with ‘Checo’ (Pérez) in this new stage, not only for Mexican motorsports. F1 is a very important pillar in its history, due to the number of people who are becoming fans of the sport”.
The marketing director assured that in Mexico City “we have one of the most emblematic races in the world championship and one of the most beautiful venues and, without a doubt, a very special Grand Prix, in which we all want to do everything possible so that, if possible, it is permanent”.
It should be remembered that last March, Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government of Mexico City, met with the president of Formula One to talk about the planning of the event.
