Legend – A Dragon Ball Tale is now available, a spectacular animated short made by fans that arrives four years after its trailer premiered
A few years ago, Naseer Pashaof Studio Stray Dogset out to create a reimagining of Dragon Ball y Dragon Ball Z call Legend – A Dragon Ball Tale. After four years of tears, sweat and, surely, a lot of money, the project is complete and the 10-minute animated film has been posted on YouTube.
If the name sounds familiar to you, it should be. Naseer Pasha has participated in several projects that will surely sound familiar to you. Among them, Castlevania of Netflixthe next Rise of the TMNT: The Movie and is now working with Marvel.
The 10 minutes of high-quality 2D animation immerse us in the middle of the Tenkaichi Budokaiwhen Goku confronts his future wife Chichi. During the fight, Goku and Chichi are attacked by a mysterious warrior. And how Vegeta has just arrived on Earth to fulfill his mission, he will have to participate in the fight, and ally with Goku to defeat the Super Saiyan Legendario, Broly.
«Animation requires a lot of time, energy, focus, budget and dedication. We had all that except the budgetPasha says at the end of the video, adding that the fan film took his team four years to work on. “My whole team did it out of sheer enthusiasm for Dragon Ball Z and the project itself.”
The fan-film does not stop with its impressive display of sakuga animation at breakneck speed and exaggeratedly fast action sequences. The artistic style of Legend harkens back to the classic grainy visual aesthetic and 2D animated art style of early 90s anime, with a fusion of the fluid sakuga of modern shonen anime. But most notably, Legend finally gives due recognition to the heated Saiyan Vegeta, making him the heroic star of the series.
