Today you can have Internet practically anywhere in the world. This is possible even in rural areas where the infrastructures of the operators do not reach, thanks above all to the expansion of satellite Internet. If there is a company that is making real progress in this field, it is Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which with its Starlink service is reaching places that were previously unimaginable, although, yes, at a price within the reach of very few.
Elon Musk’s company, as we say, is making great strides in satellite Internet around the world, and from now on it is possible to hire an exclusive connection for some vehicles that have traditionally gotten along very badly with the Internet.
Hire Internet for your boat
As you can read, the new Starlink service called Maritime is capable of bringing Internet to ships. This service, which is already available, will allow you to bring a very good connection to boats of all kinds. We are not only talking about yachts, but also merchant ships and even oil platforms. The connection is really exclusive, since it is not available to everyone: It costs $5,000 a month.

In addition to these $5,000 per month, those interested in Starlink Maritime will have to pay an initial fee of another $10,000 to cover the installation of two high performance parabolic antennas, essential to enjoy this new connection. According to the company, this new service is capable of taking ships 350 Mbps download speeds, but for this you have to make an outlay that is not for everyone. Let’s remember that the normal Starlink service costs $110 per month, added to an initial $599 for the necessary hardware for it.
According to the company itself, this Maritime service will be able to withstand the most extreme weather, so your customers won’t have to worry about being left without service even in storms or very strong waves. This service has been used by SpaceX to be able to film the landings of the company’s rockets at sea, so it has already been tested successfully.
Starlink continues to expand
The SpaceX company is very clear that its Starlink service is one of the most important it has, and that is why it has been taking several months to try to bring the satellite Internet connection to as many places as possible. Currently, SpaceX has launched about 2,000 Starlink satellites to bring the service to approximately 250,000 users, a figure that is not bad if we take into account the short time it has been running at full capacity.
Ships aren’t the only vehicles Starlink plans to hit. A few months ago, satellite Internet service began to be tested on some Delta airlines planes. In addition, SpaceX has received authorization from the United States Federal Communications Commission (or FCC) to carry its Starlink service. to virtually any moving vehiclesuch as trains, cars or trucks.
