Finally, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg has made the decision. After announcing it last year, we’ll finally be able to log in to our Oculus Quest device with an account other than Facebook. This will be possible thanks to the arrival of Meta accounts, which will mean a big change.
And it is that the technology company intends to offer greater flexibility and control when managing virtual reality. With the Meta account we can access all the possible configuration from a single point and within it we can choose if we prefer Facebook or Instagram to be part of the VR experience. If we carry it out, we can play or chat easily with other users.
It will be from August 2022 when this profound change will take place and if you are new to using Meta VR or have previously merged your Oculus account with your Facebook account, you have to follow two steps. The first is to create a Meta account and the second to do the same with a Meta Horizon profileto enjoy the new social interactions.
Now we will no longer see Friends in our account, but Instagram-style Followers. Of course, it is possible not to link with Facebook or Instagram if we wish. On the other hand, we can monitor all our profiles through the Account Center.
Our profile of Meta Horizon will be the one that replaces the Oculus and will allow us to customize the virtual appearance, username, avatar and more. On the other hand, the privacy policies will be adjusted to choose between three options: Open to everyone, Friends and family, and Only. Once done, we can modify everything to our liking and change it at any time.
