Google Chrome has a feature that promises to improve the autonomy of your laptop by up to 10% and you can activate it right now on your computer.
Google Chrome is one of the most used browsers on both desktop and laptop computers and, of course, on mobile devices. Due to the enormous presence of this browser, what happens is that the most advanced users dedicate themselves to finding how to get the most out of it at all times.
And, it is that, this browser has a hidden menu in which different elements can be activated that, normally, what they do is improve its general performance. Of course, it must be taken into account that these elements or, rather, characteristics are usually experimental and, therefore, may present problems or failures..
But what happens is that, normally, it is much more worth having one of these features activated since the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. This is what happens with the latest functionality that has been discovered thanks to Neowin. What the new Google Chrome feature promises is to improve battery life.
What happens is that Google Chrome has never been characterized as an application with efficient performance. In fact, for many users, this browser is the one that consumes the most resources on their laptops and, therefore, this makes the devices’ battery last less than expected.
Google seems to be aware of this situation and, therefore, has begun to test ways to alleviate the high consumption of resources. At the moment these new features are only available in Chrome Dev and Canaryso if you want to test them you will have to install these versions of the browser.
To activate this feature, the first thing to keep in mind is to be in Google Dev or Canary, the second is to copy “chrome://flags” in the top bar of the browser. Having done this will open the developer options menu called flags in Google Chrome.
The option that interests us is the one with the name “Quick intensive throttling after loading”. What you have to do is enable this feature by selecting “Default” in the options section, after this the most convenient thing is to restart Google Chrome so that it is applied correctly.
