The Duffer brothers assure that the spin-off of Stranger Things will be totally different and will delegate the function of showrunner to another person
Just released the final episodes of the Volume 2 of Stranger Things 4the creators Matt y Ross Duffer have shared more details about a possible spin-off series from the Netflix hit. During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast from Josh Horowitzthe Duffer brothers revealed that the spin-off series of Stranger Things it will be “1,000% different” from the original series.
“It will not be a continuation… I have read those rumors that there is going to be a spin-off of Oncethat there is going to be a spin-off of Steve y Dustin or that it will go on another number », the creators have joked. “That’s not interesting to me because we’ve already done all of that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that. So it will be very different,” says Matt.
The Duffer brothers added: “The most important connective tissue I would say is the narrative sensibility of the story. There’s a story that connects to the world of Stranger Things, but it’s really more about how we’re telling that story.”
This is not the first time that the creators have referred to possible spin-off plans. In June, the brothers mentioned that Finn Wolfhardwhich interprets the Mike Wheeler in the series of Netflix, proposed an idea that they had liked. Matt Duffer then revealed that the duo are more than happy to “pass the baton to someone else.”
“The idea, ultimately, is to pass the baton to someone else, someone who hopefully has a lot of talent and passion,” he explained. “Even the idea that Ross and I, for example, make a pilot and leave it, seems to me silly. You have to be there from the beginning to the end. I think we have to find a partner to help us with that.”
