The arrival of Season 2 of eFootball seemed to us a valid motivation to test the waters and try firsthand the improvements promised by Konami after the difficulties of the initial launch that cast a giant shadow on the title, in full revolution with the transition to the free to play formula. A nice injection of confidence was somehow necessary to understand the potential of the project, as well as what the future objectives are and will be.
EFOOTBALL, BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE SEASONS
Since last October, the structure of eFootball has changed a lot. Very launched towards the online, the greatest attention is entirely reserved for Dream Team mode which, starting with the nominal acquisition of a team, then allows us to dedicate ourselves to the recruitment of every single component, from the coach to the players, naturally starting from athletes of a basic level. By spending the in-game currency (obtainable from the usual shop or by completing some objectives, a chapter that we will see shortly) you have the opportunity to buy our favorite players.
The season two focuses on all those teams that have shone in European competitions, but together with the usual updated squads, there are also the event windows where by spending coins (another game currency, this rarer, but we have to thank Konami who provided us with a good amount of coins to be able to indulge ourselves and go shopping sprees) you enter a temporary shop where you can buy all the stars of a particular club. For example, by finding the Bayer Monaco shop, as long as it is active we will be able to buy all those players who have made the history of the club, from Beckenbauer to Ballack. As always, all feasible as long as you have the right currency.
HOW MUCH ALL THIS COST ME?
Right from the start it catches the eye as much as all of them the different game currencies, from tokens to direct contracts, are of fundamental importance and in this regard the Goals come to our aid. Adding to the usual login rewards that activate every 24 hours, the goals easily fill our wallet with what we need; they are generally quite simple missions, such as changing tactics, hitting a brace or finishing a match without conceding a goal.
Small amounts that, in an hour of play, can turn into a more than adequate sum to buy a world star, insert it in our formation and attempt to climb one of the best. The events and chances of getting currency bonuses are variedand the best advice is to comb through every type of event: even the smallest ones can give us the possibility of obtaining direct contracts, alternatives to credits to immediately take a player who will be with us until the contract expires, with the ‘the only drawback that the same will not gain experience match after match, not being able to increase its game value.
THE ONLINE COMPETITION
On the online front, the challenge is getting hotter. In Dream Team mode, you can climb the eFootball ranking through game leagues, complete with a percentage of passage from one to another. It goes without saying that Leagues 10, 9 and 8 are the most popular, since getting promotions and relegations is very easy. However, the online infrastructure is still very solid todaywith a relatively short time to find matches, even if these they do not always guarantee an adequately balanced challenge and on more than one occasion I happened to challenge teams with a total value of 5000 while mine was just over 1700. In short, climbing without adequate players is difficult, which is why avoiding buying in the shop is practically impossible and also the best players on the square will need games and experience to unlock their full potential.
Having said that, it is certainly not impossible to go out promoted by a League without buying any stars, but it will be the strongholds of the opposing teams that will force us to net strengthening. We may be skilled pads in hand, but with poor quality players, the magic can never repeat itself more than once.
A LOOK TO THE FUTURE
The management of future seasons can be, to date, the real ace in the hole of the title. With the promise to observe everything that the football world has to offer, just like in many other titles, each season has the opportunity to focus on different themes; this one we are experiencing now, for example, celebrates the most important moments of the European championships. We can already expect a new season at the end of August / beginning of September with all the teams updated after the transfer market, and then arrive at the end of November with the season dedicated to the upcoming 2022 World Cup which, alas, will see their development without our national team of the Azzurri.
A YEAR AWAY, eFootball feels like a much more solid and better optimized game
These hypotheses just listed, but for fans of the title certainly a good reason to return to eFootball on a regular basis, some for the seasons, some to find some legendary players for sale for a very short time and strengthen themselves. Net of evident better techniques and the bug fixes, almost a year later, Konami’s title seems to have gotten into a new gear, certainly more fluid and quicker, so always expecting better is legitimate, but be careful not to get too lost in the shops and not empty too much our real portfolio.
