The movements of the Blaugranas began in the last days after the end of the 2021-2022 season and now, one of the most notorious movements and of which something has been known for several weeks is that of Lieke Martens.
The Dutchwoman, who arrived at Barcelona in 2017, announced that she would no longer continue with the Blaugrana team after 5 years where she had the opportunity to win practically everything: leagues, cups, super cups and of course, the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2021 .
Unfortunately, Martens’ time at Barcelona was somewhat hampered by the constant injuries he suffered with the Catalan team. The same ones that kept her away from ownership and cutting the rhythm every time she seemed that she was returning to that Martens who in 2017 lived a fantastic year winning the European Championship with the Netherlands and taking the TheBest award for best player of the year.
5 years later and even being relevant for the Blaugrana team, Martens said goodbye to Barcelona involved in a media controversy, as several sources claimed that Martens had been offered a renewal and that she, instead of giving the resounding no, avoided communications with Barcelona and negotiated with PSG. Other sources claim that her demands were already too high and that the club could not accept them.
The truth is that, whatever happened, the departure of Martens was a strong blow for the culé fans, since they lost a player who had earned the affection of the people and who, in full condition, is also a elite player.
Now, Martens will reinforce PSG’s offense for this 2022-2023 season in hopes of continuing to write part of the history of the French team with which he signed for the next 3 years.
