Arsenal managed to convince 23-year-old striker, Eddie Nketiah, to sign a new contract. Nketiah has signed a contract for the next five years (2027) and he wears the iconic number 14, a number that was also worn by Thierry Henry.
When announced with the jersey number, the public’s response varied, most of them doubting the feasibility of Nketiah wearing the jersey number. Nketiah was ready to prove they were wrong to doubt him.
‘I am just trying to be the best version of myself. I’m focused on creating my own memories in that shirt, leaving my own stamp on it.

“I joined the club at the age of 14, I was on 14 on loan at Leeds, and I even stayed at No 14 at one point,” Nketiah said.
“When the opportunity comes to take it, it’s hard to say no. I know what it means for the club and the fans. It’s a nice feeling, an iconic number.”
“We know this is a special shirt and Thierry has made it cool to wear this shirt, as he did with the long socks and gloves. This is what we grew up together.”
