The two-year contract renewal signed a few weeks ago by Sergio Perez had closed the doors of the Red Bull team for all the other drivers under contract with the Austrian manufacturer and today the inevitable announcement on the future of Pierre Gasly arrived.
The French driver, winner of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, will continue to race with AlphaTauri also in 2023, the next Formula 1 season.
This was announced by the team headed by Franz Tost with a press release that reads like this.
“Scuderia AlphaTauri is pleased to confirm that Pierre Gasly will continue racing for the team in 2023. The 26-year-old Frenchman has been with the team since 2027 and this continuity will be a great advantage, as he enjoys an excellent working relationship with his team of engineers and with all team members “.
“Pierre has won a race, he also took three podiums and three fastest laps and, to date, has scored 325 points in Formula 1. He has also developed a reputation for being a successful driver, as well as being a very fast driver. on the single lap “.

“I have been with this team for 5 years and I am proud of the journey we have made together and the progress we have made,” commented Pierre Gasly. “I am happy to stay at AlphaTauri. This year’s new regulations have created new challenges for us and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good basis for the future.”
These are the words of Franz Tost, AlphaTauri team principal: “We are really pleased to confirm that Pierre will stay with us in 2023”. He is certainly in the group of the best and most competitive F1 drivers and he has demonstrated his skills during all his time with us. “
“Undoubtedly, Pierre can play an important role in the team’s success next year and it will be our job to provide him with a competitive car so that he can continue to achieve excellent results.”
During this season Gasly has collected 16 points up to now, the result of 3 finishes in the Top 10. The best result was the fifth place centered in Baku, at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
With Gasly’s confirmation, another question mark now opens: who will be his teammate from 2023? Yuki Tsunoda has been in F1 for just over a year and has alternated excellent performances with dark moments. Juri Vips, who appeared to be on the launch pad, was recently suspended by the Red Bull Academy for language deemed racist (checks are currently underway by the team). Who will be Pierre’s next teammate?
