Razgatliuoglu tested the Yamaha M1 MotoGP: his (and our) impressions of the test – MotoGP – Ruetir

AndIt was a closed-door test and therefore no photos and no lap times, so we have to settle for the declarations of the 2021 WorldSBK Champion: “This was my first day on the Yamaha M1 MotoGP and I had completely sensations different than what I try on my R1. More horsepower, completely different electronics and seamless gearbox. For me it was all completely new. I learned lap after lap and I must say that after many years of riding a superbike it is not easy to adapt to a GP. Luckily with me was Cal Crutchlow, who advised me and provided me with great help. I had great sensations on the bikeespecially on the straight where he goes really fast and, moreover, he was interesting to experiment with carbon brakes. Today was really hot – continued Toprak – and so we decided to go short run of five or six laps after the initial one of 12 useful for having a first feeling with the bike. When I saw the MotoGP bikes on the track here in Aragon I saw that they jumped a little, and I too had the same feelings today. It wasn’t too bad, but you have to keep the throttle open as if you close it then the bike becomes unstable. In general it was a very positive test, even if reduced by the rain that fell in the afternoon. This did not allow me to do the number of laps I wanted. I really enjoyed riding a MotoGP and so I thank Yamaha for giving me this opportunity. “

P.For those who, like myself, have had the good fortune to know and follow Razgatlioglu since 2015, when he made his debut in derivatives racing and winning the Stock 600, it’s not hard to believe he quickly adapted to the M1. His is a natural talent, which allows him to ride any type of motorcycle.

Suffice it to recall that after having made his debut in WorldSBK and having raced for two years with the private Kawasaki of Manuel Puccetti’s team (with which he won two wins and 15 podiums) he moved to Yamaha and won in his debut race on the R1 at Phillip Island

All confirmed by Phil Marron, the technician that Toprak better than anyone else, since he started working with him when he was racing in the Puccetti team, and still continues to do so with the Pata Yamaha factory team. “After the first month in which we worked together – Phil told the WorldSBK website a few weeks ago – and I saw what he was able to do on a bike, I mentioned the possibility of racing in MotoGP one day. He replied to me the same way he replied to reporters last week and that is that he likes the Superbike paddock, and that if it depended on him he would stay here,

I believe him when he says it, because he raced in the Rookies Cup and therefore lived the experience of the GP paddock, and he knows that the WorldSBK paddock is more relaxed. This does not mean that he does not appreciate the GP and I am sure that if he has the chance to race there he will take it. He adapts very quickly to any bike and I think he can ride anything. He would learn very quickly. Furthermore it has an incredible feeling with the front tire and so I’m pretty sure he’d know how to make the most of that package if the opportunity arose. “
