After the end of the Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt, emotions ran a little too high, especially for midfielder Declan Rice. The England international had literally accused referee Jesus Gil Manzano of “corruption”. This now has consequences for the West Ham professional.
Declan Rice verbally lashed out after being eliminated from the Europa League, which unfortunately was caught on video from a player’s perspective. “Seriously, how can you be so bad? You probably got paid,” the midfield anchor raged at the referee after the final whistle.
According to the BBC UEFA has now reacted and handed Rice a two-game ban. As a result, the 23-year-old is unlikely to feature in August’s two Europa Conference League play-off games, provided he remains loyal to West Ham.
“The Irons” will also be without coach David Moyes in the play-off first leg. The coach received the red card due to a freak in the final phase.
