The girls were in trouble because of the waves
A 47-year-old from Bari died at sea shortly after 5 pm in Forcatella, in the province of Brindisi, after saving his little daughter who was unable to return to shore. The exact dynamics of what happened are not yet known. According to reports, the man was on the beach with his family when he noticed her daughter in trouble due to the waves caused by the wind, and he dived and managed to rescue her. He, however, would have felt bad not being able to get out of the sea.
In a note, the Port Authority of Brindisi announces that there were two girls who risked drowning today in the Forcatella area and that they were saved by their 47-year-old father who died to bring them ashore. According to the information gathered by the personnel who intervened, the Harbor Office informs that the 47-year-old “was intent on helping the two girls in the water who, due to the wave motion, were in difficulty in reaching the shore. The man would have dived and, after having rescued them, presumably caught by an illness, he was unable to reach the shore ». Further investigations on the dynamics are currently underway.
