Atalanta Bergamo takes over Merih Demiral from Juventus permanently. The Turkish defender was already hired, but is now really leaving for the club where the Dutchmen Hans Hateboer, Teun Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon are under contract.
The 24-year-old Demiral played 42 times for Atalanta last season. He scored once in Serie A against Napoli and was also accurate once in the Champions League, against Manchester United. After the return win in the eighth final of the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen (0-1), he was named player of the week by the European football association UEFA.
Due to the departure of Demiral, the Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt has one less competitor in the defense at Juventus. He also recently saw Giorgio Chiellini leave the club, where the Italian played for seventeen years. Wing defender Mattia De Sciglio signed with ‘De Oude Dame’ on Thursday until mid-2025.
