Rumors (albeit unofficial) are becoming increasingly frequent that hypothesize a reappearance of the Gilera brand on the tank of an Enduro equipped with the V-twin that was once mounted on Aprilia Shiver.
The cradle of this project would seem to be distant China, more precisely the factory of Chinese colossus Zongshen. After the agreement with Piaggio for the acquisition of projects and equipment for the (re) construction of the 900 cc V-twin, the engine should have been equipped only for some models Cyclone, the premium brand of the groupbut now it would appear to be intended for branded use as well Gilera.
For now, nothing is certain yet, but the concept created by the designer Oberdan Bezzi shows the aesthetics “Dakariana ” with highly respectable technical features: spoke rims, inverted forkradial brake calipers, hand guards and a windshield with fairing.
It is unlikely that, even if it were in Zongshen’s plans, it would also come to us: the Aprilia engine would not respect the constraints imposed by the Euro 5. And then, as mentioned, for the moment it is only a designer’s vision.
