Tennis player Jean-Julien Rojer has reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros with his doubles partner Marcelo Arévalo. The twelfth-seeded couple settled in the third round with German Tim Pütz and Michael Venus from New Zealand, who were seventh in Paris: 6-4 2-6 6-1.
40-year-old Rojer and 31-year-old Arévalo, from El Salvador, have already won the ATP tournaments in Dallas and Delray Beach this year. Last year, Rojer and Wesley Koolhof stranded in the third round of the doubles at Roland Garros. Also in 2020, the third round was the final station for the doubles specialist of the Dutch Davis Cup team.
Matwé Middelkoop (38) reached the last eight in Paris on Saturday with 42-year-old Rohan Bopanna from India. They survived five match points against the Croatian duo Nikola Mektic/Mate Pavic and won in three sets: 6-7 (5) 7-6 (3) 7-6 (10).
