Dominik Szoboszlai has been under contract with RB Leipzig since January 2021. So far, the Hungarian has not managed to establish himself in the first eleven. Now Szoboszlai should plan his departure from Leipzig.
On Friday night, Spanish sportswriter Gerard Romero claimed Szoboszlai will travel to San Sebastián at the weekend to sign a contract with Real Sociedad.
Mathyas Esterhazy, the 21-year-old’s advisor, immediately denied the rumor and explained to Romano: “Of course there is a lot of interest in my client, especially since he played a good season in Leipzig. But Dominik is on vacation in Hungary and will be with the national team from Monday. Everything else is not true.”
Die Bild-Zeitung, however, claims to have learned that a move from the midfielder to Real Sociedad is by no means unrealistic. The sixth in the table of the past La Liga season has been in contact with the Szoboszlai management for a long time. Furthermore, there are said to have already been concrete and good talks between Real Sociedad and Szoboszlai itself. the Bild even goes so far as to claim that only the last details would have to be clarified at the weekend before the Spaniards would negotiate the modalities of a change with RB.
According to reports, there is a loan or a sale with a buyback clause in the room. The reason for Szoboszlai’s desire to change lies in his reserve role in the heavily occupied Leipzig midfield. The right-footer, whose contract with the Saxons runs until 2026, often has to line up behind Christopher Nkunku, Dani Olmo and Emil Forsberg and has only started about half of the games this season.
