Throughout her career, Cristiana Oliveira has always learned something from the characters she played. In this week’s “OtaLab”, she told Otaviano Costa what she kept from each one.
First on the list was Juma, her thunderous television debut, in 1990:
With Juma I discovered a very innocent side of me. Despite being the mother of a 2 year and 7 month old child, I still had a very girlish mind. I identified a lot with her in that sense.
Cristiana continued listing her most outstanding characters. “Selena (from ‘Golden Body’, 1998) had the strength that I couldn’t show. Tatiana from ‘Four by Four’ (1994) was that insecure little girl who became a beautiful, confident woman,” she recalled.
I think they all taught me something.
“The only one who taught me nothing in a personal sense, but a lot about life, was Araci”, he said, about the prisoner who lived in “Insensato Coração”, 2011.
Gilberto Braga’s synopsis had only four lines. Cristiana, then, went to fight:
To get to know Araci, I spent a year and a half visiting women’s chains. I wanted to make her a great character. It took three months of participation that earned me an award nomination. I don’t go in to lose. I go to the last consequences.
