Jai Hindley starts on Sunday as the favorite for the overall victory of the 105th edition of the Giro d’Italia. The 26-year-old Australian cyclist from Bora-Hansgrohe defends a lead of 1 minute and 25 seconds over Richard Carapaz in the final time trial, which is 17.4 kilometers long. The Ecuadorian lost his pink leader’s jersey to Hindley in the queen stage on Saturday.
Spaniard Mikel Landa has to make up for 1.51 on Hindley in Verona. The Dutch do not play a significant role in the ranking. Wilco Kelderman is in seventeenth place and Thymen Arensman is eighteenth.
Koen Bouwman is already certain of the blue mountain jersey. The Dutchman from Jumbo-Visma still has to finish in Verona on Sunday in the time trial.
Hindley finished second in the 2020 Giro d’Italia, behind Briton Tao Geoghegan Hart. Kelderman was then third.
