Specifically in the character of Batgirl, whose biography was changed by the developers, all to clarify a point that generated confusion, especially if the lore of this hero in the comics is followed.
And although it has been said that the game is not a literal interpretation of the original works, in any case many DC fans were upset because in the original bio, it was implied that Barbara Gordon, who in the comics is in a wheelchair by a shot from the Joker, he had recovered from the grievous injury by his will alone.
Between a round of questions and answers held on the game’s Discord, Gotham Knights creative director Patrick Redding was asked if he had an explanation as to why the heroine no longer had her spinal injury, to which He responded that “Barbara has been through multiple surgeries followed by a lot of physical therapy and pain management.”
“The player will see her at The Belfry, where she is doing exercises and stretches designed for that ongoing rehabilitation. She also has back braces built into her suit and you’ll see her in her off-duty gear at the Belfry,” Redding noted.
In addition, he stressed that the change was made due to the complaints of the players, indicating that they listened to the comments of the community that has fair questions and concerns about how Barbara is represented. “We’ve changed some of the descriptions on the Gotham Knights site in response to that,” she said.
Gotham Knights launches on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, during October 2022.
