A few days after its global launch, the renewed PlayStation Plus has already faced its first controversy, that of the full charge regardless of the discount for those who sought to save on the service, which has already been resolved by Sony. However, the second controversy is on the horizon and this has to do with the emulation of PS One games, which is already the subject of analysis and criticism.
Sony fixes emulation bugs but makes games worse
The start of PS Plus operations in Asian markets allowed some players to access it ahead of time to collect as many details and information as possible. Initially, the concern was that the versions of the titles released by Sony Computer Entertainment, the exclusive ones of those years, were available, both in the service and in the PS Store, in their PAL version, that is, they run at 50 Hz causing a difference in frame rate per second.
The criticism was immediate and as reported by some players, Sony tried to correct this detail in the emulation with an update but it made things worse. According to the Windy Corner TV Twitter account, Sony released update 1.02 for these classics and in its notes it indicated that it would fix the 50Hz output in the PAL versions of the games.
Sony has released a patch for a few PS1 Classics on the PS4/PS5 that “improves” the PAL output.
The patch upscales the PAL code to 60hz by blending frames.
But the technique has introduced these horrible ghosting artifacts.

However, the experience of these players ended up being worse. In this sense, it is pointed out that by increasing the frequency to 60Hz, in accordance with the NTSC standard, PS One games run well, but this resulted in the appearance of various shadows in polygonal designs, a detail that bothers community. The above was exposed with a comparison in the version of Jumping Flash! which shows such problem after update.
Although this happens at the launch of PS Plus in Asian markets, attention is already focused on the start of operations around the world and fans will be aware of what happens with these classic games and the performance of the emulation.
