The conflict between Twitch and Dr Disrespect showed something: the platform is unclear when it comes to sanctioning and banning its streamers. Content creators have asked for more clarity and transparency in this process for years, especially since Twitch does not explain the causes of its sanctions.
In case you don’t know, when the platform bans someone, it only sends a notice listing the policies that its users violated, but does not detail what actions or behaviors of the content creator led to the punishment. So streamers never know for sure why they got banned.
Fortunately, everything indicates that this will change soon, as Twitch prepares adjustments to everything related to bans. This with the objective that precisely the process is clearer and everyone knows the reasons for which they are sanctioned.

Twitch wants to make its banning process clearer
One of the goals of Angela Hessian, Twitch’s vice president of trust and safety, is for content creators to know the precise and real reasons for their bans. To do this, they plan not only to send the usual message that we all know, but also to add evidence and material that shows that the user in question violated any platform rule.
For now, there is talk of attaching sections of the video where the platform’s policies are violated so that users can identify the reasons for their sanction. “So we’re looking at how we can attach more details for people to understand, like the video itself. That’s something we’re definitely working on,” Hessian said.
For many this is important, as there are cases like that of Dr Disrespect, a popular streamer who was permanently banned without explanation. This setting would also make it easier for Twitch users to appeal a possible unfair ban.
In fact, the platform promised to simplify the appeal process, as there are cases where creators have been unfairly penalized by the algorithm and the moderation team.
