1. FC Köln lend home-grown Marvin Obuz to the second division. At Holstein Kiel, the 20-year-old winger should gain match practice in the coming season.
The seven-time U20 national player has been wearing the Effzeh jersey since 2009. However, the homegrown product has not yet made the final breakthrough among professionals. Although he made his debut in the second round of the DFB Cup in Stuttgart, he did not make any further appearances. Overall, the left winger made it into the Bundesliga matchday squad four times.
Obuz was mainly used for the second team in the regional league. In 25 games he has seven goals and three assists. Now he should prove his skills two leagues higher in the coming season and recommend himself for a future with the billy goats. In Cologne, his contract is valid until 2024.
“Holstein is a strong, attacking team. The path to KSV is the right step for me to develop as a footballer and as a person. My goal is to get here quickly and do my part for a successful season,” explained the youngster.
Kiel’s Managing Director Sport Uwe Stöver added: “Marvin Obuz enjoyed a good education at 1. FC Köln. Now he has the opportunity to take the next step with us and assert himself in the 2nd division.”
