Margot Robbie she is currently one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood and there are numerous projects that will soon see her protagonist. Among these, a new title has recently been announced: the Ocean’s Eleven prequel. Here are all the details!
Ocean’s Eleven, the caper movie par excellence
In 1960 Colpo grosso was released, a film with a protagonist Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean, a seasoned thief who hired ten of his “colleagues” to rob five Las Vegas casinos at the same time. The iconic caper movie was then the subject of a remake after forty-one years: in 2001 it was released Ocean’s Elevendirected by Steven Soderbergh. The title was immediately a huge success with audiences and critics, thanks to the stellar cast that sees among its protagonists George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia and Casey Affleck. From here began the so-called Ocean’s saga.
In the wake of this success, two sequels have been made, Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), and also a completely female spin-off, Ocean’s Eight (2018), with an equally stellar cast that counts among the its protagonists Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Dakota Fanning and Helena Bonham Carter.
The prequel with Margot Robbie is coming
The successful film saga is about to have a prequel. We still don’t know the title of the new movie but we know that it will be set in the sixties in Europe and perhaps it will refer to the original 1960 film. She was chosen as the protagonist Margot Robbie who, in addition to working in front of the camera, will also take on the role of producer of the film next to Jay Roach, Michelle Graham and Tom Ackerley. Josey McNamara, Olivia Milch and Gary Ross instead they will be executive producers. Warner Bros. will deal with the distribution of the film, as has already happened with the previous titles.
The prequel will be directed by Jay Roacha director known in particular for the Austin Powers sagas and Meet the Parents, and who has also already collaborated with Margot Robbie for Bombshell – The Voice of the Scandal (2019), thanks to which the actress got hers second Oscar nomination. The screenplay was written by Carrie Solomonhere at its cinematic debut.
Filming will begin in the spring of 2023, so we plan to see the film in our cinemas by 2024.
