For Omar Alderete, the loan to Spain was worth it. Unlike at Hertha, the defender in Valencia was part of the permanent staff. Now the old lady is waving a transfer plus.
On Monday evening it will be decided whether Hertha BSC will start in the Bundesliga or the second division next season. Either way, Omar Alderete will not be part of the Old Lady’s squad. The 25-year-old central defender still has a contract in Berlin until 2025, but was loaned out to Valencia in La Liga before the season.
The Spaniards have an option to buy the Paraguayan, which according to Bild should be 7.5 million euros. With Valencia missing out on international business, however, the option won’t become mandatory. Nevertheless, one can assume that the club would like to tie Alderete firmly to itself.
The defender immediately became a regular player and played a total of 34 competitive games. Valencia want to finalize the deal in the coming days. However, competition from their own league threatens: According to the Spanish radio station Chain BE Villarreal FC and Betis Sevilla are also interested. Good news for Hertha – after all, you could get even more transfer fee for Alderete in the end.
It is certain that a transfer plus will be achieved. The defender came to the capital from FC Basel in 2020 for a fee of four million euros.
