There chassis of the new Ducati Streetfighter V2 2022 it is identical in layout to that of the Panigale V2, in turn conforming to that of the 1199 Panigale super sports car born in 2011.
The engine acts as a frame: is the load-bearing element. The connection with the front end is made through an aluminum structure (the so-called monocoque) bolted to the heads, which also acts as an airbox. The twin cylinder also acts as a support for the swingarm, whose pivot is housed in the rear part of the base. It is an aluminum single arm that activates the single shock absorber, positioned laterally, through a progressive linkage.
Of course there are some differences between the two bikes, mainly related to the need to recalibrate the dynamic characteristics of the Streetfighter according to the high handlebar, the lower aerodynamic protection and the more “upright” driving position. In particular, the weight balance had to be shifted towards the front. This was done by adopting a 16mm longer swingarm. Ducati also worked on the front. Finally, the seatpost frame has been revised, made with a trellis of steel tubes.
The suspensions are identical to those of the Panigale V2: Showa BPF fork with 43mm diameter stanchions at the front and Sachs monoshock at the rear. Both units are fully adjustable and guarantee the wheels, respectively, 120 and 130 mm of travel. There is also a steering damper (Sachs). The rims are in aluminum and are inspired in the design by those of the Panigale V4.
The original equipment tires are Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 with measures of 120/70 and 180/60. The braking system uses, at the front, 320 mm diameter discs and Brembo M4.32 radial mount calipers, combined with a Brembo radial handlebar pump. Behind, there is a 245mm disc with two-piston Brembo caliper. In terms of brakes, the only difference with the Panigale V2 is represented by the pads of the front system, which are less aggressive in favor of road driving.
