SV Werder Bremen can continue to count on the services of Clemens Fritz, who extended his contract at Osterdeich on Saturday.
The ex-professional, who was active for the Green-Whites himself from 2006 to 2017, has been responsible for squad planning at SV Werder as “Head of Professional Football & Scouting” since 2020. After relegation last year, there was also criticism of his person – but after the successful second division season, the 41-year-old enjoys full confidence again.
Frank Baumann explained that Fritz’s extension “had become apparent early on”.
“Clemens has also had a very intense year behind him. He did an excellent job in a difficult transfer summer and played a major role in putting together the squad that enabled us to return to the Bundesliga. His role in the team has also increased changed, he has moved closer to the team and is also taking on a more prominent role in public communication,” Baumann said in praise of his colleagues. “We are very satisfied with the way he interprets his role overall.”
Fritz added that he had often emphasized “how satisfied I am in my current position. Intensive weeks are behind us, in which completely different topics were in the foreground. After promotion, the time had come to do what was actually already known finalize it. I am very pleased that I can continue to play an active role in shaping Werder Bremen in the future.”
