XXXIV International Book Fair in Turin opened on May 19, 2022.

Turin – It was defined by the jury as “one of the most interesting voices in Italian poetry at present”, thus the Lerici-Pea ‘Golfo dei Poeti’ Prize, now in its 68th edition, was awarded to the poet Alessandro Rivali. The 45-year-old Genoese poet received the award for the “Edito” section during a meeting at the Turin Book Fair, during which he read some lyrics taken from his collection “La terra di Caino” (Mondadori, 2021).
Rivals has published the collections “The Riviera of Blood” (Mimesis 2005 and then Fara 2007), “The fall of Byzantium” (Jaca Book 2010), as well as the interview books “Giampiero Neri. A master in the shade” (Jaca Book 2010) and “Back to the classics. A conversation with Giampiero Neri “(Ares 2020).
Rivali also edited Eugenio Corti’s unpublished letters from the Russian front (“I return”, Ares 2015). “I tried to write Paradise” (Mondadori 2018) collects the conversations with Mary de Rachewiltz, the daughter of the poet Ezra Pound.
The Lerici Prize, born in 1954 (which became the Lerici-Pea Prize in 1958 in memory of Enrico Pea), has six sections (“To the career”, “Edito”, “Liguri nel Mondo”“Paolo Bertolani” AwardLerici-Pea Award “Angloliguria” and aims to spread and enhance poetic excellence.
On June 17, the Lerici-Pea “Angloliguria” 2022 Prize will be awarded to Simon Armitage, ‘graduate poet’ of Queen Elizabeth II, with the presentation of Massimo Bacigalupo. The award named after Paolo Bertolani goes to the dialect poet Edoardo Zuccato (31 July), while the ‘Liguri nel Mondo’ award goes to Maria Elena Bottazzi, nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize (September 15). The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Louise Gluck, Nobel Prize for the Literature 2020.
