Genoa – The master bell ringer died today, Saturday 21 May Giovanni Parodi, for friends Gianni, dean and cashier of the Genova Carillons association Michele Mantero.
Born in 1934, from Genoa Palmaro, “Gianni has dedicated his life to music, both as an organist in various parishes and, especially as Campanaro, not only in his parish but also in many churches not only of the Diocese but also of northern Italy, as well as at the bell tower of the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia in Genoa. – writes the Genova Carillons Michele Mantero association in a note – Alongside his passion for music, that for trains and also for buses, which had become his job, reaching positions of responsibility within the Amt of Genoa , where he worked with tireless professionalism, until his retirement “.
“A man with a shocking memory (he remembered the days of the calendar by heart even 50 years ago and all the telephone numbers, license plate numbers, addresses, precise timetables), he had a naturally witty and engaging character”, the association also recalls. “He spent himself to entice and involve young people in his passions. Precisely those young people who, today, mourn him and will remember him with eternal gratitude and affection”.
THE funeral they will be celebrated in the parish of Santa Maria Assunta in Pra ‘Palmaro, Tuesday 24 May, at 8:30 am. The rosary will be recited on Monday 23 May at 6 pm.
