The 18-year-old Paraguayan is the favorite to win the Internazionali d’Italia Juniores: in the final he will play against Nishesh Basavareddy
“My favorite player is Andy Murray, but in Paraguay we all have the myth of Victor Pecci and I would be happy to win at least half of his trophies.” Daniel Vallejo, number 2 in the Under 18 world and seeded number 1 at the Bonfiglio Trophy in Milan, has clear ideas. And above all, he is one game from winning the 62nd edition of the Internazionali d’Italia Juniores: the 18-year-old Paraguayan, a pupil of Ramon Delgado (formerly number 52 in the ATP ranking), will play the final against a less popular tennis player, Nishesh Basavareddy. The American boy, of Indian origin and seeded number 10 of the tournament, made his way to Milan brilliantly, winning in the quarterfinals against the number 2 of the seeding – Gonzalo Bueno – and eliminating the Spaniard Martin Landaluce in the semifinals.
On paper, Vallejo is the favorite, therefore, but pay attention to Basavareddy’s form. The women’s final will be a match between two sixteen-year-olds: the American Liv Hovde and the Swiss Celine Naef, seeded number 5 and 7 respectively. my model is Simona Halep, I like her tennis and her mentality. My dream? Simply that of giving my best potential, then we’ll see where I can go ”, her words at the end of the match. The appointment for the two finals is Sunday from 11: first the girls on the field, then the boys.
