In Rabat Martina imposes herself with a double 6-3 and tomorrow she will challenge the American Liu for the title before flying to Paris
Martina Trevisan wins the blue derby in the semifinals of the Wta 250 in Rabat against Lucia Bronzetti (6-3 6-3) and earns her first career final. The Florentine n.85 in the world ranking thus becomes the 26th Italian in history to compete for the title in a tournament on the major circuit. In the final tomorrow, at 13 (live Super Tennis), she will face the American Claire Liu (n.92 WTA), who in the semifinal of the lower part of the scoreboard took advantage of the withdrawal of the Hungarian Anna Bondar, injured in her right shoulder.
The match
–
It is an incandescent start to the game where Trevisan makes the difference in terms of brilliance (and winners) but the 23-year-old from Rimini is the first to break the pace and takes advantage of an empty pass by Martina in the fifth game, moving forward 3-2 . The n.85 in the world wastes no time and in the following game, at the second chance, restores parity. Bronzetti still wobbles at 4-3 and with a long forehand allows Martina to serve for the set, which ends 6-3. Trevisan’s tennis is a continuous crescendo in the second half. In the third game the tennis player from Florence is good at exploiting the second of the opponent and immediately moves forward with the 2-1 break, soon consolidated by a game on the serve closed to zero. Further chances of break (to the advantages of 3-2) are not long in coming, but the outcome of the match is decided in the ninth game, when Trevisan, with his suffocating pressing, manages to snatch Lucia’s serve once again, closing on 5-3 at the second match point.
