SpaceX, the aerospace technology company founded by Elon Musk, reportedly paid US$250,000 (about R$1.23 million at the current rate) to settle a sexual harassment allegation against the businessman. The agreement would have been signed in 2018 and the victim would be a flight attendant.
The alleged victim of harassment would be an employee of SpaceX’s corporate jet fleet and would have accused Musk of showing his penis and touching his leg without consent. The tycoon would also have offered a horse in exchange for an erotic massage.
Stakeholders declined to comment
The allegations were made public on the website. Business Insider, which released a series of documents and interviews. The commissioner, who was not named, was contacted by the corporate news portal, but declined to grant an interview or comment on the case.
The harassment episode allegedly took place in 2016 and was denounced in a statement signed by a person close to the victim. The whistleblower would also have shared email exchanges and other records that would prove the events.
According to the whistleblower, the commissioner would have told him that she was encouraged by other SpaceX employees to take a massage therapist’s license to comply with Elon Musk’s request. Initially, the massages had no sexual connotation, however, in one of the sessions, a horse would have been offered in exchange for an erotic massage.
‘There’s so much more to this story’
Sought by Insider, Elon Musk reportedly stated that “there is a lot more to this story”. The billionaire also allegedly called the report a politically motivated attack and said that if he were a person inclined to be involved in episodes of sexual harassment, this would not be the first complaint.
SpaceX’s legal vice president, Christopher Cardaci, was reportedly contacted by cell phone and declined to comment on the case. SpaceX, in turn, would not have responded to requests for comment requested by the publication.
