The 29-year-old naturalized Argentine, number 155 Atp, rescued together with Cachin and Londero: all three born in the province of Cordoba. And Giannessi is drawn as fourth: another blue on the draw?
Roland Garros speaks more and more Italian. Franco Agamenone, born in Argentina but naturalized, will be the seventh tennis player to represent Italy in the main draw of the men’s tournament. After being fished out by lucky loser, he joins Sinner, Sonego, Fognini, Musetti, Cecchinato and Zeppieri. Agamenone, 29 years old and number 155 in the ATP ranking, had never reached this point in a Grand Slam: last January he stopped in the first qualifying round for the Australian Open. It will therefore be his absolute debut in this sense. Meanwhile, in France there is the hope that the number will grow further: Alessandro Giannessi in fact has been drawn as fourth, so he will be able to take over if there is another retirement in the next few hours.
Together with Agamenone, Pedro Cachin and Juan Ignacio Londero were rescued. The curious fact is that all three were born in the province of Cordoba. Agamenone is originally from Rio Cuarto, 190 kilometers south of the city; Londero instead comes from Jesus Maria (49 kilometers to the north), while Cachin is from Bell Ville, 195 kilometers to the southeast.
