“How to take me is written at a particular moment in my life, the moment when I really understood that I was lying to myself, I needed that fixed point that I had neglected for so long”
Out from Friday 13 May for Supernova Dischi the new single by Goteo by title How to get me. The Florentine rapper born in 1997 returns with a new piece that anticipates the release of his first album, a song that sees the production of EFFEÍ and which is entirely dedicated to the inner world of the artist, a real awareness of the most recondite of him.
Goteo kindly granted us an interview.
“Come take me” is your new single, what is it about?
How to take me, as you can understand from the title, is in itself a rhetorical question to which only time has been able to give me an answer. I was going through a very difficult time in my life where I believed that the removal of a person would only do me good. Friends and close people kept telling me that this was the right thing for me but deep down they didn’t know what was what I really wanted, so I wanted to convey this feeling of mine through music by convincing myself of what I really needed.
What do you want to convey with this song?
Actually I would like to make people understand that we must always think for ourselves because only we know what we really need. Often the advice of friends or those who say they love us are very selfish, we live in a society where the great crushes the weak and when you are most vulnerable it is easy to be duped by people. So always thinking for yourself makes you free and confident in what you want.
What kind of welcome do you expect?
Let’s say that I have no expectations and that I make music only and exclusively because I like it. Over the years I saw that the people to whom I played my songs kept telling me to publish and then I began to think that the themes I deal with in the songs could be useful to those who like me live those feelings. So I decided to share it. But I repeat, for me it is just a pleasure and then if it has to be it will be, if there is one thing that will never change it is that I will be happy and proud of what I do regardless of the results.
How was your musical project born?
My project was born thanks to the collaboration with Alberto and Federico who together make up EFFEÍ MUSIC. By now Alberto and I have known each other for more than 10 years and in one way or another we have always made music, at first I remember that we closed ourselves in the room and wrote and produced pieces until the day we reached that maturity for to begin a real artistic journey.
