BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M Anniversary

BMW, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company’s “M” sports division (founded in 1972), presents the new M 1000 RR 50 Years M Anniversaryan exclusive model that will be offered in Sao Paulo Yellow only and with the historic 50 Years BMW M emblem. Developed on the technical basis of the M 1000 RR, this new “50 Years M” comes standard with the M Competition package, as well as a wide range of M milled parts and the unique M Carbon package. Also part of the standard equipment is a Lighter swingarm in silver anodized aluminumthe unlock code for the GPS M tachometer, the M Endurance chain, the passenger package and the seat cover for the passenger.

To push the bike we therefore find the four cylinders in line facing the road which already equips the M 1000 RR, with double overhead camshaft distribution, bore and stroke measurements of 80×49.7 mm (total displacement: 999 cc), forced lubrication, liquid cooling and six-speed gearbox. Among the most interesting features of this engine, the presence of the ShiftCam system which varies the lift and timing of the intake valves. Other noteworthy details are the titanium valves, operated by finger rockers. Compared to the S 1000 RR engine, the final transmission is “shorter” and the exhaust is entirely in titanium. It weighs 3,660 g less than that of the S 1000 RR (total weight is 7,780 g) and improves performance at medium and high revs. Our test center has certified a power comparable to that of the S 1000 RR (213.4 hp at the shaft against 213.2 CV), a better torque, both in the peak value (123.6 Nm against 120.7 Nm), both in the “medium” performance, and a higher maximum rotation speed (14,800 rpm against 14,400 rpm).
