That’s what Bloomberg sources say. The development of the glasses is said to be at a late stage. Lately, Apple has made “progress” in the development of the headset, which means that the new product may be presented soon.
The glasses offer a combination of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). With AR, users see images about reality, instead of a completely virtual environment with VR. The glasses must work with Apple’s new operating system realityOS. References to realityOS were found in source codes from Apple earlier this year.
Apple has already made AR versions of several of its own iPhone apps, according to Bloomberg. The glasses would also get apps to stream images and video conferencing.
The first version of the Apple glasses, which is rumored to be called Apple Vision, will be priced at more than $2,000. Apple has been working on the headset since 2015.
Competition
More large tech companies are developing glasses for augmented reality. Snapchat already has such AR glasses, but they are still only intended for app builders. Microsoft has had its HoloLens glasses for companies for some time, and the Google Glass is currently only intended for business use. Facebook parent company is developing AR glasses for consumers that would hit the market in 2024.
Apple may be showing off its glasses at the WWDC annual developer conference in June. According to Bloomberg, a consumer release is planned for 2023.
