The arrival of Erik ten Hag to the coaching chair of Manchester United, of course, has made him will try to strengthen the composition of the squad from the Red Devils, in order to bring them in their best performance.
Currently, Ten Hag is reportedly focused on strengthening his midfield. Therefore, he allegedly wants to reunite with 25-year-old midfielder, Frenkie de Jong who is currently defending Barcelona.
Man United has shown seriousness in bringing De Jong from the Blaugrana. However, Barcelona seems to be still trying to complicate the process of transferring players with Dutch passports.
In addition to being under contract until 2026, Barca reportedly only wants to release De Jong at a high price, after the club has just started negotiations if there are interested teams who want to spend around 70 million pounds.
Hearing the news, the Daily Mail reported that if MU’s hopes of being able to hook De Jong, most likely could have vanished. Because, the Red Devils are rumored to have refused to issue a transfer fee of more than 65 million pounds.

The reason Man United is not willing to spend money is because Ten Hag is reportedly also still looking to add new players in various lines such as attackers and defense, so he wants to maximize the spending funds that will be provided by the club.
