Paulo Miklos is an outstanding figure in Brazilian rock, especially for his 34 years as lead singer of Titãs, a band he left in 2016. But in parallel with music, his face became more frequent in cinema and series as an actor, a talent he discovered late. In a conversation with Zeca Camargo at this week’s Splash Interview, he explained this “deviation” in his career as a “wonderful accident”.
I had never imagined myself playing a character. I was a stage animal and I always had an exaggerated relationship with performance. To really enjoy getting into each song. My work with the Titans has always provided me with very fun situations. Paulo Miklos
And he attributes his discovery as an actor to filmmaker Beto Brant, who directed some of the Titãs clips in the 1990s and saw potential there. According to Miklos in the video that you can see in full above, the invitation to star in the first film came from the director after a show.
“Beto Brant who realized that. After making one of these clips, he came to me after a Titãs concert and said that I was going to play the title role of an upcoming movie”, he said.
However, the musician did not initially take the invitation seriously, as they were in a party mood in the dressing room. “Tomorrow he won’t even remember,” he explained.
But Bert Brant remembered. And the “wonderful accident” is precisely the praised “O Invasor”, from 2002, in which Paulo Miklos plays a hired killer and plays opposite Alexandre Borges, Malu Mader, and Marco Ricca.
After his debut on screen as an actor, Paulo Miklos was in both film productions, such as “Estômago” (2007), and TV series, such as “Assédio” (2007). In the interview with Zeca, he still talks about an ongoing project, “Manhãs de Setembro”, by Prime Video, which should have its second season in 2022.
