Thomas tells the magazine that he and Merel ‘are crazy about each other’. At the same time, he admits that he finds it difficult to “go for someone” all the way. “I don’t dare to jump in, because I don’t want to feel pressure that it has to succeed. I consciously slow myself down. You have to get to know each other well first, I think.”
Still, the two lovebirds are head over heels in love with each other and see a long future together. When asked whether they will seal their love with a little boy, Thomas responds firmly: “It is still too early for that. I really shouldn’t think about children for a while, you know. But never say never.” Thomas also does not want to say too much about their further plans for the future. The presenter much prefers to live in the moment. “I don’t like five-year plans. Who knows, I might think differently in a year.”
To at least prepare his sweetheart for a life in the spotlight, Thomas thinks it is important to support her in this. For example, he sometimes gives her media training ‘just for fun’. “She was recently interviewed for the first time. Then we will practice in advance. She is extremely good at answering politically correct. Better than me.”
While Merel managed to win Thomas’s heart, Maureen’s was broken. During the reunion of the program she found it difficult to see Thomas again. She talks about it in the RTL Boulevard Reality Podcast† Watch the fragment below or listen to the entire podcast via this link.
