Injuries were a major problem for Chelsea in the 2021/22 season, one of the players who had to be sidelined for a long time was Ben Chilwell.
As is known, the English full-back suffered an ACL injury in the match against Juventus, 24 November 2021 ago. This made Chilwell have to undergo surgery and then sidelined until the end of the season.
Chilwell’s injury recovery process seems to be going smoothly, after training with the U18 and U23 squads, now as reported by the Mirror, the 24-year-old has returned to training with the Chelsea first team on Tuesday (17/5).
The return of Chilwell to the first team was certainly welcomed by the players, seen before the training session began, Mason Mount and his friends hugged the player who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2021. The coach, Thomas Tuchel, did the same.
Although he has returned to training, Ben Chilwell does not seem to be making a comeback in the near future, the coaching team wants the player to be in a fit condition first, he is predicted to only return to play at the beginning of the upcoming 2022/23 season.
The news of Ben Chilwell’s recovery is definitely brilliant news for Thomas Tuchel’s squad, considering the player is indeed a key player in the squad. Prior to injury, Chelsea only conceded four goals, while Chilwell also managed to collect four goals from 12 matches.
