The saga of the future Kylian Mbappé continues, and it does not seem that it will end until he signs, and now it is the president of FC Barcelona who enters the equation. In an interview that he has granted to Radio Nacional de Catalunya, Joan Laporta reviewed the different issues that currently influence his team: Ousmane Dembele, signings and departures and Mbappé.
When it comes to talking about the Frenchman, Laporta was firm and assures that they cannot afford to go back into the madness of paying their players exorbitant salaries. The president added that Kylian Mbappé is asking for 40-50 million euros net per year, which “Mbappé is at a level of the super tops“.
For Laporta, talking about these figures is a lack of respect towards the young promises of the club who “they are called to be a reference in the world of football who are at Barça and are starting. We are not going to do it nor do we want to“. Laporta wanted to emphasize that later the teams that sign these players are not guaranteed success either, as has happened this year to PSG or Manchester City: “Afterwards neither one nor the other wins the Champions League. That also must be taken into account”.
According to the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, a name already very prominent in terms of the transfer market, these figures that Laporta mentioned are not true, or at least from Mbappé’s close family circle that is what they want to convey. In addition, they confirm that Barcelona has not entered into negotiations with the player:
Kylian Mbappé wants some time to announce his final decision, matter of days. ⭐️?? #Mbappe
More. From Mbappé’s camp and family they deny Joan Laporta’s statement about “€50m net salary per season”.

The date of Mbappé’s decision is approaching, but if in the end he leaves for Real Madrid as everything indicates, the signing will not be made official until the end of the season, which for the Whites is May 28 after the Champions League final League in Paris.
