The good news at SV Werder Bremen never ends. After the successful return to the Bundesliga, regular keeper Jiri Pavlenka extended his contract on Tuesday. Head coach Ole Werner and loan player Mitchell Weiser also have tendencies towards a longer green and white future
For a long time it looked as if Jiri Pavlenka would give up his tents at SV Werder Bremen after being relegated to the Bundesliga. That was a year ago – and Werder back in the German upper house. Pavlenka is still here and will be for a long time!
On Tuesday, the club officially announced the extension of the contract with the Czech. “I’m happy that my future lies with Werder. My family and I feel at home in Bremen and Werder, so it was an easy step for me. I’m really happy that we’ve made it up the ladder and now I want to work with Werder tackle the sporting challenges in the Bundesliga,” said the 30-year-old.
The tendency for a long-term Werder future is also evident in the case of successful coach Ole Werner and the convincing loan player Mitchell Weiser.
According to the kicker automatically extend when staying up in the Bundesliga. In this constellation, those responsible and Werner want to start the new season first, even if the head coach’s salary is adjusted to the new league.
Mitchell Weiser should also continue to be there in the new season. The loan from Bayer Leverkusen was convincing across the board and was not among the three Werder professionals officially dismissed by the club on Tuesday (Luca Plogmann / contract expires, Lars-Lukas Mai, Roger Assale / each return after a loan). This at least indicates that Werder is currently negotiating with Leverkusen about a permanent signing of Weiser.
