The incentives set up by the Italian Government came into force on May 16 and are aimed at those who buy a new motorcycle, a new scooter or a new moped, whether they have an electric or internal combustion engine. These incentives guarantee a substantial reduction in the purchase price. The dealerships can already stipulate contracts, but these can only be registered on the dedicated IT reservation platform starting from 25 May. In the meantime, similarly to what we did with the 10 best-selling motorcycles, we took the 5 bestselling scooters in our country and calculated how much they would cost with the eco-bonus, deducting 5% and 40% (with a maximum ceiling of 2,500 euros) from turnkey price including VAT.
From the Government has not yet been specified if the 40% deduction is to be calculated on the price with or without VAT: Pending an explanatory Ministerial Circular, we took the bestseller Honda SH 125 as an example by calculating the two cases, to give you an idea of what the difference is by applying the two different methodologies. For the other scooters we have assumed a discount on the price including VAT.
