The all-new BMW 7 Series will be available for the first time as a fully electric BMW i7. Time for a closer acquaintance with a dive into the price list.
The new BMW 7 Series has a striking design. In fact, the design is at least as controversial as that of the E65 generation from 2001 designed by Chris Bangle. The new 7 Series will be available later this year, albeit first only as a fully electric BMW i7. The other variants, plug-in hybrids and a diesel, will follow later. You can already put together the BMW i7 and that is what we are going to do today.
BMW i7 specifications
The drive is already easy, because the BMW i7 is – at least at the moment – only in one variant. That’s the xDrive60. A few figures: a system output of 400 kW (544 hp), all-wheel drive, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a range of up to 625 km (WLTP).
Prices BMW i7
The price tag of the BMW i7 xDrive60 mentions at least an amount of 144,449 euros. BMW has not yet released detailed standard equipment at the time of writing, but expect a lot of luxury. For more sportiness, there is the M Sport package (from 149,804 euros), with the superlative the new M Sport package Pro (from 153,298 euros). For our configuration we stick to the ‘normal’ version, which looks the most stylish.
Body colours
The BMW i7 comes standard in virgin white unilac. Another color costs a bit: you’ve lost 1,295 euros for one of the metallic colors. You then have a choice of black, white and a range of gray tones. For 1,868 euros you get M Carbonschwarz. Black, but with a luxurious bluish tint through it. Then there are the BMW Individual colours. Dark grey, dark blue and dark red cost 2,495 euros and for the two matte gray Frozen shades you have lost 3,995 euros.
Do you really want to unpack then you choose from a solid 12,499 euros for a two-tone body. Then the top half of the car is finished in black or grey, with the bottom half in a choice of dark red, dark blue, dark gray or (depending on the top half) black or a lighter shade of grey. We are usually up for a tan, but now the choice falls on the modest but stylish Sparkling Copper Grau metallic. That just suits the car a little better.
Aerodynamic wheels
The BMW i7 is only available with so-called aerodynamic wheels. Standard that measure 19 inches, optional are 20- and 21-inch wheels. The latter can possibly be executed in a bronze shade. The additional cost is 2,023 to 4,003 euros. We keep that money in our pocket, because we stick to the standard wheels. The BMW i7 is striking enough in itself, there is no need for large wheels underneath. In addition, the smaller wheel size provides more comfort.
Luminous grille
The BMW kidney grille Iconic Glow is standard, or the contours of the grille illuminated by LED. Optional (2,242 euros) are Iconic Glow crystal headlights. They offer slightly better performance, but are above all much more striking with their crystal elements. We leave them for what they are.
Interior decoration BMW i7
As standard, the interior is upholstered in Cognac-colored Sensatec upholstery. The upholstery color can be adjusted to dark brown, black and black with dark red at no extra cost. Leather Merino upholstery is optional. This is stated in the configurator at no extra cost, but can only be ordered together with the BMW Individual interior package for 4,495 euros. In terms of colours, you can choose from a lighter shade of brown, a kind of dark red-brown and white. Although it is probably a contagious tan, we still go for the latter.
Then there are also wooden (no extra charge) and carbon fiber (854 euros) interior moldings. Esche Flowing Gray is our favourite, but it cannot be combined with the chosen upholstery. Then we go for the second choice: Lindenholz Fineline Braun Pianolack Schwarz.
Furthermore, the Executive Lounge seats are already part of the equipment, as well as the Rear Seat Entertainment equipment, that large cinema screen. Let’s leave the CraftedClarity glass application for controls (907 euros), but we do order the panoramic glass roof Sky Lounge (1,014 euros).
Separate options and packages BMW i7
Partly as a result of previously checked options and packages, only the Climate Acoustics Pack (2,490 euros) has not yet been checked. This includes the thermal comfort package and tinted and heat-resistant glass. Come on, let’s check those too.
Anything is possible with individual options. From extra visual decoration and M Sport equipment to extra (driving) assistance and winter wheel sets. Frankly, we believe it. Just because we can, we only tick the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System for € 6,193 euros and then we have seen it again. Even if you would not tick anything, you would not lack luxury in a 7 Series.
