The sixth round of the Brasileirão did not help Flamengo to scare away the crisis and criticism of coach Paulo Sousa, after a draw with Ceará, but it also had controversial refereeing in the turn of São Paulo over Cuiabá, the emotion of John Textor in the victory of Botafogo and a serious case in the tie between Inter and Corinthians, with the Portuguese side Rafael Ramos being arrested after being accused of racism.
In the Posse de Bola #228 podcast, journalists Arnaldo Ribeiro, Eduardo Tironi, Juca Kfouri and Mauro Cezar Pereira analyze the main facts of the round, in addition to the victories of Atlético-MG and Palmeiras, Cruzeiro leading Serie B and Vasco winning in San Januario.
Arnaldo says that clubism ends up being bigger than the social flags amid serious cases such as the accusation of racism against Rafael Ramos and criticizes the lack of a more direct position on the part of Corinthians.
“The football club, the athlete, the coach, they represent millions, they are fundamental values that need to be defended with iron and fire, but in fact the directors rarely manage to represent the history of each club. situations a clearer, more defined and less discreet stance than it has been, but I also don’t expect much from Corinthians’ charter, just as I don’t expect from others”, says Arnaldo.
“Corinthians, I think they have their reasons, they often place themselves as a club in which social causes are above sporting and football causes and in fact this is a big joke in practice”, he adds.
As for the emotion of John Textor, who celebrated with Botafogo fans after the victory over Fortaleza, Juca Kfouri sees a bit of an exaggeration on the part of the businessman when he says that in the Premier League there is no demonstration of passion for football as he saw it at the Nilton Santos stadium, but highlights the way Botafogo is rescued from the SAF, with the American at the forefront.
“He was really euphoric, he went there to celebrate with the fans, he took the flag, that scene was beautiful, seeing the Botafogo fans in that enthusiasm, it was all very cool. Now, obviously he made an exaggeration because maybe he’s right in comparison with the love of Brazilian fans with most Premier League teams. Certainly, Liverpool are not included in this list”, says Juca.
“What I think is admirable there and worthy of note is to see this resurgence of Botafogo. I, who am in favor of the SAF, never disguised it, it is not about making apology for capitalism, but just recognizing that within the capitalist system a thousand times you have a competent manager in the management of a club than the Brazilian top hats, who act as if they own the club, leave clubs in pre-bankruptcy or bankruptcy situations like we see and don’t solve anything. I’d rather have a John Textor”, he concludes.
