As is known in the inaugural match of the group stage, Indonesia U-23 was beaten by Vietnam with a landslide score of 0-3. After the match, Shin Tae-yong did say that he wanted to meet Vietnam again, but at the peak of the 2021 SEA Games.

“This is a difficult question. Indonesia is also still not known whether to qualify for the semifinals or not. Meet or not, for me it’s normal. We still have one game left, so it’s difficult to talk about the final,” Hang-seo said as quoted by Goal.
“It seems that the crushing defeat in the first meeting made Indonesia feel devastated, so coach Shin was a little angry. He once said he still hadn’t received it. But if we meet again (in the final), I will be ready,” he explained.
Currently, Vietnam is still at the top of the standings with a collection of seven points. Meanwhile, Shin Tae-yong’s troops were ranked second with six points.
