Thiago Jamelão has been involved with music since his childhood. He started playing guitar at church and then had the opportunity to play with pagode, axé, sertanejo and even jazz groups before reaching rock. Born on the outskirts of Goiânia, he tells, in this episode of Papo Preto, how music was fundamental to give his life a direction.
“For some years now, I have been constantly reflecting on my life. Until I was 20 years old I thought I was going to die there, for me life would end at 20. Until a certain moment I lived without any expectations, except for the daily expectation of thinking I had to get food to take home, expectation of survival” (from 10:49 of the above file).
He says that when he understood that the meaning of life was forward, he realized that he needed to live. “I understood that I owned this mission too, I needed to take responsibility and run after it even in the middle of all hell”, he says. “When we walk this path, wrapped in so much sadness, we can’t perceive the beauty of the path. The music saved me” (from 12:50 on the file above).
At that moment, the musician says he was reborn and took possession of his life. Much of this feeling he put into the songs of the EP ‘Sóis’, released on the 5th of May, with the partnership of Emicida and the participation of Drika Barbosa.
